graduates for these appointments was inaugurated (see paper M/11716 and other subsequent papers) a period of six weeks

was allotted to Wireless under the Post Office portion of the

training (two weeks at the Niton Wireless Station and four

weeks at Dollis Hill), and two weeks with the Marconi Co.,

during that part of the training which came under our

supervision.

During the latter portion of the training

visits, o vering a few days to several weeks, were arranged

to the Korks of verious manufacturers of apparatus and

materials, but in no case was any fee charged. As you are

aware, a large number of officers passed through the course.

7. We may state that we have frequently arranged visits

to works and other centres of interest including the Marconi

Co's Works at Chelmsford and their transmitting and receiving

stations about the country for Engineers under personal

letters or introduction from their locel Engineers-in-Chief.

Visits of this nature were arranged in 1928 for Messrs.

Brailsford and Kemp of the Hong Kong Wireless Staff on

letters which we received from Br. King, the Government

Flectrical Engineer, Similar visits were arranged for

r. dee of the sano staff in 1930. In no case was any fee

charged. These visits have always been undertaken by the

officers concerned in their own time and at their own

expense.
